MYSPACE: Posting your writing on myspace?

I have few short stories I would love to get some feed back on. No one has ever seen my work and I need to get some kind of criticism on them. But, I have no one to show it to. I'm just a young guy sitting on some ideas.......

Would it be a good idea to post a few of my short shorties in my Myspace blog? an excerpt I guess?

Would that be a good way to get the "word out?"

MYSPACE: Posting your writing on myspace?

Okay, well I'm an aspiring writer too and I have an account on Mibba.com you should definitley try it!

it's my high. I'm on it like 24-7 basically you can put in stories, diaries, poems, whatever you feel like! Then you can get feedback from other users.

keep me updated and tell me ur user-name so i can read them!

MYSPACE: Posting your writing on myspace?

Put a link on yahoo! answers.....I want to read it!!

MYSPACE: Posting your writing on myspace?

It depends.

Not many people actually take the time to read someones blog unless you go around asking them to take a look.

MYSPACE: Posting your writing on myspace?

sure. try postin them on all your blogsites.

MYSPACE: Posting your writing on myspace?

no

bad idea

people can copy and paste, change who wrote it and all of a sudden, they're the fantastic authors

MYSPACE: Posting your writing on myspace?

yeah but like she said. post it up on here so we can read it.

MYSPACE: Posting your writing on myspace?

yea.....

and put it open to whoever you want to read whether just a couple of close friends, all your friends, or all of myspace.

MYSPACE: Posting your writing on myspace?

I dont post...people can just steal your stuff. You should talk to an agent or a publisher or perhaps a small publication that suits your stories.

MYSPACE: Posting your writing on myspace?

Sure, why not!! If you are marked private, then it will only be your friendslist that sees it anyway!

MYSPACE: Posting your writing on myspace?

hellz yea. if u got a lot of friends that read your blog then of course. it would be the perfect place to post something in. myspace is one of the most populated websites. u know people would read them there

MYSPACE: Posting your writing on myspace?

I've posted some of my poems on there. It would be a good way to get some feedback on it.

Publish a few chapters on StoryMash.com - You can get useful feedback, and a few bucks... who knows, you might even win their writing contest. Best of all, it's fun!

MYSPACE: Posting your writing on myspace?

I would not post my work on a public website like a (public) myspace page. If your work is good and you're trying to get published, a publisher might already consider it published if it has appeared on an Internet site.

Someone could steal it...

And you're not likely to get really helpful responses. Having people tell you your work is good (which is what most folks in that situation might say) feels great, but doesn't help you grow as a writer.

The best way to get helpful feedback on your writing is to join a critique group. There are lots of them in Yahoo groups, and you could also do a general search for critique groups, based on your genre (i.e., science fiction critique groups; romance critique groups; Christian writers critique groups, etc.) Most of these groups are set up so your work isn't able to be viewed by anyone but other members of the group.

Also, critiquing the work of other writers helps you to see and understand the problems that might be lurking in your own writing.

Cheers,

Diana

If you post your stories on Myspace, most of the people who leave comments will be your friends. If you're looking for blind praise, then go for it. However, if you want honest feedback then you should explore other options.

I always suggest that people join a local writers group. It's the best way to get honest, polite feedback from people who know the craft. To find a local group, try checking the events/activities section of your local paper or check with your local library.

However, if you can't join a local group, you might try posting your work on a site like FictionPress.com. It's not the best option, but you're likely to get some decent feedback from other writers. Take any criticism at face value though--you can't be certain that the people critiquing you actually know what they're talking about.
